One crow, forty crows is a Persian saying which means exaggerating. Whenever there is news which sounds unreal, they say it’s been one bird, forty birds. My works are based on this saying and the dialogue which happens between many people and changes the first meaning of a saying t something very different. The contrast of the one bird, fort birds is also a telephone angle which I have as one of my other art works. This work is used as a metaphor of telephone which transfers the message exactly the way it’s been said, with no change.

To extend off of Neda’s illustrations, I was interested in putting an even greater emphasis on communication and how easily words can change in a dialogue. I invited a small group of third-grade students from Denver Public School to participate in our dialogue by playing the game telephone. Neda’s illustration inspired each beginning statement that was passed from one to the next student. The words displayed with Neda’s illustrations are excerpts from the final statement in the telephone game.
